If enough people are interested in going to the Detroit Rep Theatre and dinner afterwards as a small fundraiser I will be glad to plan one. Also, $172.00 was raised from Entertainment Book sales. I ordered more books and should have them December 17 but will not be able to stay long at coffee hour so please let me know if you are interested. Thanks to all who bought and also got extra for presents. ~ Margaret Beck

The Ministerial Search Committee conferred with the Rev. Lisa Presley, Heartland Interim District Executive, regarding important “next steps” in the search process. At that meeting we also reviewed the draft packet, and approved it. Soon we’ll begin assembling it.
Kathe Stevens compiled a history of the church using information contained in previous packets and the history on our website and by searching the Internet. This history will be included in the packet sent to ministerial candidates. An email was sent requesting help with the history. If you did not get the email and are interested in helping, please email kathe@mbwgroup.comor call Kathe at 313-831-4135.
If you did get the email and were able to review the attached document containing the history, the Committee asks that you contact Kathe if you can add any dates/events. For example, Alma Kosmowski suggested adding the appointment of the Future Facilities Task Force and the vote to sell the Church buildings. That was a great suggestion. It's an important part of our history, even if it's recent history.

Hadash introduced himself to Kathe Stevens at GA and explained that his church had a photo that he believed belonged to First Church . Kathe and Rev. Hadash coordinated to bring the picture home. The photo is now in the historical records room. Please contact Alma Kosmowski to view it.

A Leadership Gathering
Reserve the dates! From March 30 to April 1, 2007 a conference on Navigating the Great Turning, will be held in Columbus, Ohio. The keynote speaker will be David Korten, author of The Great Turning: From Empire to Earth Community. David was a featured speaker at the June 2004 Green Party presidential candidate. The gathering will focus on actions being taken and identifying actions we can take individually and together in cities and towns across the country to create true “Earth Community” to gradually replace the “Empire” pattern that is rapidly destroying our future. For a better understanding of The Great Turning go to any of the following websites: uujec.org, or greatturning.org, or davidkorten.com.
The proposed schedule of the conference will be emailed and posted by December 8, 2007 at uujec.org/schedule.pdf.

Thanks go to the following for helping to make Noel Night run "smoothly": Maria Majer who gained valuable child behavior experience while monitoring the cookies and cider, Janet Thompson, Alma King and Sharlene Gage who decorated the church house and McCollester Hall, Irene Schultz who handled the vendors, Hillard Williams who supplied sound system expertise for the performers, those who helped Athena Kolbe with the make'n'take ornaments as well as Margaret Wilkie and Mary Catherine O'Neal who chipped in where needed. Thanks also to the stagehands who helped rearrange the chancel when needed between acts.
Ed. Note: Thank you, Dan, for your tireless energy. I honestly don’t know where this church would be without you! ~ Irene
